The peat lies on the sand. The wooded mire spreads in the Kõrigu peatland. The area of the peatland is 35 ha, of which 12 ha is a peat deposit; 0.02 million tons are economic probable reserves of well-decomposed peat. (Orru, 1995). Peat  consists of moderately decomposed (28%) grass peat. The basal layer is well-decomposed (40%) wood peat with an ash content of 12.6% and a moisture content of 87%. The thickness of the deposit is 1.30 ... 1.50 m. Peat is characterized by a higher content of microelements (Zn, Cu, Mo, Pb) (Orru et al., 1988). The bog is suitable for cultivating  grassland.
