Description

Peatland is located in the western part of Hiiu county, 3 km east of Kõpu. The Kõpu-Kõrgessaare road is 0.8 km from its northern part. The  peat formed by paludification, feeds on groundwater, recipient is the Poama stream.  Fen woodland and shrub spread in the peatland. The area of the peatland is 26 ha, of which 11 ha is peat deposit. The 0.02 million tons of the peat reserve is all well-decomposed peat active reserve. (Orru, 1995). The thickness of the deposit is 1.20 m, ash content is 7.6%, moisture content is 89%. It is recommended to leave the peatland in its natural state. Not included in the list of peatlands suitable for mining prepared by the Ministry of Environment (Regulation no. 87; 27.12.2016).
