Abstrakt

The continental formation of Sende, located NE of Benin, is dated from the Lower Cretaceous by means of silicified wood. It overlays unconformably the Kandi formation attributed to Lower Paleozoïc from Cruziana. The Kandi formation is made of sandy deltaic, littoral and epicontinental deposits. There is evidence of closed ichnologic relations between that area and the N African region. This fact argues for a transgressive overlap through the Central Sahara. That transgression is replaced in the outline of the cirum-gondwanian province.
