Trace fossils assemblages in Frasnian Stage deposits of the Main Devonian Field

In the thesis the author analysed trace fossil assemblages from the Frasnian deposits of the Main Devonian Field (MDF). On the basis of collected ichnofossil samples systematic ichnology has been established, which includes various groups of ichnocomplex and ichnofacies. Obtained data of ichnologic analysis allowed to improve current understanding on paleofauna diversity, facies zonation and palaeoecology of the Baltic Devonian basin during the Frasnian Stage. Ichonofacies in MDF Frasnian stage deposits indicate shallow marine sedimentation and variable facies conditions. The study shows that features helpful in identification of ichnofossils are altered in the result of dolomitization processes. Analysis of ichonofacies complements the knowledge about ancient fauna diversity and distribution, and improves palaeoecological and palaeogeographical reconstructions at the Baltic Devonian basin.
