Abstrakt

Trace fossils of the Scolicia group in Cenozoic rocks were commonly produced by spatangoid echinoids (heart urchins). Rare members of the Scolicia group are known from the Richmond Formation of eastern Jamaica, to which is added Scolicia prisca de Quatrefages. This specimen is particularly well preserved, it includes evidence of the action of the radioles specialized for digging. It provides further evidence for the presence of spatangoids in this unit, although they remain unknown as body fossils; only poorly preserved regular echinoids (mainly ra-dioles) are known from the Richmond Formation so far.
